EAT-Dis was built from the ground up to be a low-bandwidth answer to a high data density problem. Public datasets are spread across multiple locations and wrangling them can be cumbersome at best and eat a lot of data transfer in the process. Designed by a meteorologist with one goal in mind: getting to the answer. The application is designed with a focus on features, network mindfulness, and accuracy to ensure the analysis tool is never the problem.
Single, integrated analysis environment.
Robust suite of radar analysis tools for both NEXRAD level-2 and level-3 data.
Synoptic to storm-scale data and analysis tools to support site-specific analysis.
Management tools for wrangling multiple projects across different locations.
Create report-ready and presentation quality graphics immediately. Export and go!
Both NEXRAD level-2 and level-3 support
Supports 1, 2, and 4 panel display for multiple variables at a time
In addition to base moments and variables, GWG also computes:
Specific differential phase (KDP)
Specific attenuation (AH)
Backscatter differential phase (delta)
Dealised radial velocity (velda)
Derived radar analysis tools such as RHI/cross-sections, CAPPI, CVP and other supporting features.
So you don't have to memorize all those radar IDs
Get a map with all of your project's locations plotted showing you which radar is most pertinent for your analysis.
Additionally, get characteristics including distance of the site to your location as well as an estimate of the height of the beam center both relative to the radar and over your location(s).
Support for NWS polygon storm-based warnings
Span multiple days through daily aggregation tool to generate an image of all warnings for a day, or plot them all on a single image.
Visualize without having to leave the tool, Web Feature Service (WFS) integration with the NWS Damaget Assessment Toolkit.
Filter storm reports by type, aggregate by day, or just plot'm all on a single image
Automatically search for the nearest station through decades worth of sounding data.
Find launches within the window you're focused on for analysis.
Our latest addition to the group. Support for Skew-T charts! We'll soon be adding isobaric charts based on the IGRA2 dataset.
View either direct observations available through the GHCN-hourly dataset, or aggregate them over a period of time indicating how you'd like the station plots displayed.
GWG's profile-based hail classification mitigates standing data quality issues which can plague other methods.
Use high resolution surface roughness and USGS terrain data to more accurately interpolate winds between stations accounting for orography and terrestrial factors. Optionally, use wind reports to augment your wind analysis for a more accurate picture at a given location.
Easily wrangle multiple projects across multiple locations, all without leaving the browser.
Download most every EAT-Dis image as a GIS-ready format ready to integrate into your favorite GIS tools. Data export changes based on the dataset and can be exported as GeoJSON, GeoTiff, or a Shapefile archive depending on the data source.
Directly use your favorite GIS applicaton to display EAT-Dis data with minimal effort.
